Environment Day Remembered
at St. Patrick's School

Environment day was the last activity on our calendar of events for this year.

Mr Simon Curmi from Wasteserv was invited to give a talk about the national campaign Dont Waste Waste. The aim of this campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of waste management.  Mr Curmi explained what can and cannot be placed in domestic recycling bags and the several ways in which recyclable materials can be disposed of responsibly.  He continued by explaining the difference between organic and non-organic waste and its benefit.  He also said that as from September the separation of organic waste will become nationwide. He concluded by giving some tips and advice on how each student can do his part to minimize the impact of waste. The ekoskola group also gave their input.  In his speech, the President of the Ekoskola Committee, explained the work that is being done on a school level.

As Lady Bird Johnson nicely puts it “The environment is where we all meet; where all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share.”  So don’t waste waste, do your bit.
