On the morning of June 29th, during the 9:00 am Mass, the St. Patrick’s Salesian Church witnessed a profound spiritual event as Mark and Brian received the Sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation. This special occasion, held in the presence of the Salesian Community and the faithful, served as a testament to the enduring power of the Holy Spirit in revitalising the Catholic faith.
The ceremony commenced as Fr. Savio Vella, the Chaplain at St. Patrick’s, administered the Sacrament of Baptism to Mark. Washed by the water of the baptismal font, Mark emerged symbolically renewed, embraced by the grace of God. This sacred initiation marked his entrance into the Catholic Church and signaled his commitment to a life guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.
Following this baptism, the momentous occasion continued with the Sacrament of Confirmation. Fr. Charles Carabott, acting on behalf of the Archbishop, bestowed this sacrament upon Mark and Brian. Through the anointing with holy chrism, they were bestowed with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, strengthening their faith and equipping them for a lifelong journey of discipleship. At the end of the Eucharistic celebration, Fr. Eric Cachia, Rector, blessed and presented a cross on behalf of the Salesian Community.
The choice to hold this event on the solemnity of Saints Peter and Paul carried a profound significance. As pillars of the early Church, these saints exemplified unwavering dedication and profound love for Christ. Mark and Brian, in their own way, now join the rich tapestry of the Church, becoming part of a vibrant community that draws inspiration from the lives of these great apostles.
