Celebrating St. Dominic Savio at St. Patrick’s
Visiting the Ta’ Qali MFA training grounds, Centenary Stadium, the National Stadium, and the National Basketball Pavilion were a stunning experience for our students. The absolute highlight was when they played football at the Centenary Stadium and a basketball match on a real court under the guidance of Mr Leonard Falzon.
The students and staff at St. Patrick’s, gathered to celebrate the feast of Saint Dominic Savio, their spirits alight with anticipation. Their day began with a solemn mass, a moment of reverence honouring the young saint. Fr. Matthew Pulis had an interactive moment with the boys, comparing their favourite video games rules and aims, with their own lives’ goals and aims. He also talked about St. Dominic Savio’s main aim, that of becoming a Saint.
Eagerly, they embarked on a journey through Malta’s sports landscape, starting with a visit to the Ta’ Qali MFA training grounds, where the echoes of football legends seemed to linger in the breeze. The National Stadium stood tall next, its grandeur inspiring awe as they explored its corridors. At the Centenary Stadium, excitement peaked as they participated in a spirited game of football, the field becoming a canvas for their friendship and competitive spirit.
Transitioning to basketball, they entered the National Basketball Pavilion, guided by the seasoned expertise of Mr. Leonard Falzon. Amidst cheers and dribbles, they showcased their skills, each basket a testament to their dedication and passion for the game.
Another group of students indulged in a clay session, their hands moulding earthy material into expressions of creativity. Amidst laughter and focused concentration, they explored the tactile joy of shaping clay, each piece becoming a reflection of their imagination. With patient guidance, they crafted intricate forms, their artistic endeavours fostering a sense of connection and fulfilment. In this tranquil interlude, the students found solace and joy in the simple act of creation.
What could be more delightful than ending the celebration with a picnic at Ta’ Qali Park? Cycling through its scenic paths, engaging in a friendly game of football, and relishing the cool breeze under the shade of towering trees felt nothing short of heavenly. It was a harmonious blend of nature’s beauty and joyful companionship, creating cherished moments that seemed to embody the spirit of celebration itself.
